What you Say. What you Mean

The book ‘What you Say, What you mean’ was inspired by a letterpress paper brief focused on communicating an emerging trend through traditional mark making. I chose Augmented Reality as my trend after being inspired by the success of the book 'Prosthetic Reality', and selected keywords ‘reveal, layer and emotion’ to help guide my project. I quickly discovered that my knowledge of AR with software like Zapr was not going to give the desired result. To solve this problem I experimented with using transparent paper with marbling to present the physical effect of my trend. I chose to relate my trend with the lack of perception to peoples emotion and true feelings in mobile communication. Using transparent paper to present the emotion I explored different emotions by introducing the emotion of the sender in black and white, the message and the emotion on the following page revealing deeper into the emotion of the sender.
